MODULA Automated Warehouse Installation

As business has grown in recent years it was important to focus on improving certain areas of the company while making additional plans for the future.

We have recently installed 2 Modula vertical lift machines in our warehouse in St Margarets, Co Dublin.

Modula is an automated storage and retrieval system used to optimise space and improve warehouse management. The Modula simulates the movement of a lift. The operator uses the Copilot to call the goods to be picked up, the Modula knows which tray to find the various items in and delivers those trays directly to the bay, ready for pick-up. The visual aid ensures that the right item is picked every time, significantly reducing the chance of errors. This creative approach streamlines warehouse operations, speeds up picking times and enhances worker safety.

The first modular is 11.3 meters tall, with 61 trays that are each 4.3 meters wide and have a 750 kg capacity, for a total weight capacity of 45 tonnes. Standing at a height of 12.3 meters, the second modular has 90 trays, each measuring 4.3 meters in width and holding 500 kg, for a total weight capacity of 45 tonnes. Following the removal of the previous mezzanine and the installation of the two modular lifts, an additional 500 pallet spaces were also obtained.

"We purchased the tallest Modula models on the market because we wanted to fully utilise the floor space and height of our warehouse," says Paul Flanagan CEO of  Flanagan Fittings. “Consequently, we now have the two biggest Modula vertical lift machines in the country. As a result of the success of the Modula system in our warehouse, a third machine is being installed this month”.
